History and Milestones

PUpsolar was founded in Hong Kong by Zhe Jiang in 2006 and has quickly established itself as leader in PV technology solutions. The company began module production in less than one year’s time, and shipments quickly quadrupled between 2007 and 2008. In May of 2008, we established Upsolar Europe SAS in Paris to better serve our European customer base and to more efficiently expand our operations into the Middle East and Africa. Our Test and Development Centre was also opened in 2008, enabling Upsolar to further improve the quality of our product offerings. Our North American operations commenced in 2009, headquartered from the Upsolar America, Inc. office in San Francisco. Shipments reached 120 MW by the end of 2009, doubling our output from the year prior. Further expansion occurred in 2010 as we opened the doors on Upsolar Italia, Srl.

Our rapid growth is a testament to our commitment to quality; Upsolar continuously aligns itself with the most trusted names in the industry from across the PV supply chain. We are confident Upsolar will continue to grow in the years to come as we build our presence with quality installations around the world.

December 2010:

November 2010:
Upsolar signs an agreement with Zep Solar to offer a variety of new framing options

October 2010:
Upsolar enters a partnership with microinverter leader Enphase Energy to create an AC-enabled (ACE) solar module

October 2010:
Upsolar Italia Srl is founded

July 2010:
Upsolar increases its monocrystalline module efficiency to 14.9%.

June 2010:
Upsolar becomes the only Chinese company to receive a rating of "very good" from German magazine Öko-Test

February 2010:
Upsolar Germany GmbH is founded

December 2009:
Upsolar ships more than 120 MW of modules in 2009

October 2009:
Upsolar opens its North American headquarters in San Francisco, California

April 2009:
Upsolar America Inc. is founded

March 2009:
Upsolar increases the efficiency of its monocrystalline products to contain cells with 17.8% efficiency raising the module efficiency up to 14.5%

December 2008:
Upsolar ships more than 60 MW of modules in 2008

December 2008:
Bureau Veritas Shanghai becomes the third-party quality verification partner for all Upsolar shipments

December 2008:
Upsolar enters into a strategic partnership with Tianwei New Energy, the only fully-integrated solar provider in China

September 2008:
JR Investment Corporation Holding acquires stake in Upsolar

June 2008:
Upsolar„s in-house Testing and Development Centre is inaugurated

May 2008:
Upsolar Europe SAS is established, with headquarters in Paris

March 2008:
Upsolar enters a four-year, 100 MW supply agreement with a major European green energy investment fund

February 2008:
Upsolar signs a 7 MW PV power station supply agreement with a major independent power producer in Portugal, GENERG Sol do Alentejo

December 2007:
Upsolar ships 15 MW of modules in 2007

September 2007:
Upsolar enters a strategic R&D partnership with Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute to ensure module quality
